You Don't Have a
Motivation Problem.
You Have a
Wrong Strategy Problem.

After 30 years helping entrepreneurs reach their goals, I've discovered why most self-help advice fails most people — and it has nothing to do with how hard you try.

"If you've ever bought a self-help book, listened to a motivational podcast, followed someone's 5-step system — and still found yourself stuck in the same place — I need you to read every word of this page."

My name is Edison R. Guzman. I've been a marketing consultant since 1995. That's not a typo. I started when fax machines were still exciting technology and the internet was something professors argued about at universities.

In those 30 years, I've worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs and small business owners. Smart people. Driven people. People who wanted it badly enough. And I've watched a surprising number of them hit a wall — not because they lacked talent, not because the market was wrong, and definitely not because they didn't try hard enough.

They failed because they were using someone else's strategy inside their own head.

"Giving everyone the same goal strategy is like giving everyone the same pair of glasses. Sure, they'll fit on your face. But if the prescription is wrong, all you'll see is blur — and you'll blame yourself for not seeing clearly."

— Edison R. Guzman

Here's what nobody in the self-help world wants to admit: the bestselling strategies work great — for the people who wrote them. They work great for the personality types that naturally think, feel, and act the way those strategies are designed for. For everyone else? It's like being left-handed and using right-handed scissors your whole life. You can make it work. But it's always going to be harder than it should be.

Today, I want to show you a better way. One that's been hiding inside two of the most powerful frameworks ever developed for understanding the human mind — and one that I've combined into a free tool you can use right now.

The Signs You're Using the Wrong Strategy

If you've ever caught yourself thinking "I know what I need to do — I just can't seem to do it," the problem probably isn't you. It's the mismatch between the strategy and your mind. Here's what that looks like in real life:

  • You try a visualisation exercise that worked wonders for your friend. You close your eyes, try to picture success... and mostly just think about what's for dinner.

  • You set up a detailed action plan with colour-coded spreadsheets and feel productive for exactly three days before it starts collecting digital dust.

  • You try "just take massive action" advice — and find yourself exhausted, scattered, and wondering why you feel worse than when you started.

  • You join a loud, high-energy accountability group because everyone says that's what works — and spend most of the time wishing you could just be left alone to think.

  • You've read at least five books on productivity, habits, or mindset — and the main thing you've achieved is a really impressive reading list.

None of this means you're broken. It means the strategy was built for a different brain. And that's what we're going to fix.

Two Frameworks That Actually Explain Human Behaviour

You don't need a psychology degree. You just need to know these two things.

Framework 1

NLP — Neuro-Linguistic Programming

Developed in the 1970s by researchers Richard Bandler and John Grinder, NLP is the study of how your mind creates your experience of the world — and how to change that experience on purpose.

The name sounds more complicated than it is. "Neuro" means your brain. "Linguistic" means the words and pictures you use to think. "Programming" means the patterns those thoughts run — like software. NLP gives you tools to rewrite the software.

Think of it as the instruction manual for your own mind — showing you how to create lasting motivation, break bad patterns, and anchor powerful states so you can access them when you need them most.

Framework 2

Carl Jung's 16 Personality Types

Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung spent his life studying how different people think, decide, and engage with the world. He found that we each have a dominant cognitive style — a preferred way of taking in information and making decisions.

These patterns were later organised into 16 distinct personality types. Each type has its own internal logic, its own fuel source, its own failure modes — and its own ideal strategy for reaching a goal.

This isn't horoscope-level pop psychology. Companies like Google, IBM, and the U.S. military have used these frameworks for decades. It's a serious tool that most self-help books completely ignore.

"When you combine the 'what to change' of NLP with the 'how your mind works' of Jungian personality theory, you stop guessing — and start knowing exactly which lever to pull. I call this Neuro-Type Mastery"

Let Me Show You Exactly Why One Size Fits None

Let's take one of the most popular pieces of goal advice ever given: "Visualise your success every morning. Make it vivid. Feel the emotion. Get excited." Sounds great. Watch what happens when three very different people try it.

EF
ENFP — The Catalyst Connector Energised by people, possibilities, and big feelings
✓ Works Well

Sarah closes her eyes every morning and sees herself on stage speaking to a sold-out room. She feels the crowd's energy. She gets emotional. She gets out of bed fired up and ready to conquer Tuesday.

For Sarah — an ENFP — this works perfectly. Her dominant function runs on emotion and possibility. Vivid, feeling-rich visualisation is basically rocket fuel for her brain. She'll tell all her friends to do it. She'll write a blog post about it. She might even start a podcast.

And that is how this advice becomes a bestseller — because the Sarah-types of the world are usually the ones writing the reviews.

IT
INTP — The Conceptual Architect Energised by logic, systems, and intellectual problems
✗ Fails Quietly

Marcus tries the same exercise. He closes his eyes, attempts to picture success — and immediately starts thinking about whether the image he's generating is actually accurate, whether this technique has peer-reviewed evidence, and whether he left the coffee maker on.

His dominant function is Introverted Thinking. His brain runs on logic and systems — not emotional pictures. Asking Marcus to "feel the excitement" is like asking a calculator to do interpretive dance. It's not what the machine is built for.

Marcus will try this for three days, quietly conclude it's nonsense, and go back to doing nothing — but now he also feels bad about himself. Not because he lacked discipline. Because the strategy was wrong for his mind. What Marcus actually needs is to treat his goal like a hypothesis to test — engaging his natural love of solving problems. That's a completely different instruction.

IS
ISTJ — The Bedrock Builder Energised by order, duty, and proven methods
✗ Tolerated, Not Effective

David does the visualisation because he was told to. He does it every day at 6:47 a.m., right between brushing his teeth and reviewing his schedule. He doesn't feel much. He's not sure if it's working. But he'll keep doing it because that's what you do when you commit to something.

David's dominant function is Introverted Sensing — he's grounded in real experience, documented history, and proven processes. Abstract daydreaming doesn't move him. What actually lights David up is a clear, structured plan with measurable milestones and evidence that each step has worked before.

Give David a proven system with clear checkboxes and he'll outperform almost anyone. Give him a feelings exercise and you've just given him homework he'll do — and hate — forever.

Same advice. Three completely different outcomes — based entirely on the type of mind receiving it. Now multiply that across 16 personality types and every conceivable goal. This is why generic strategies have a generic success rate.

Marketing Consultant • Entrepreneur Coach • 1995–Present

I'm 61 years old. I've been in the marketing trenches since before most of the gurus you follow were in high school. I've watched the internet go from curiosity to chaos, I've seen every tool from email marketing to artificial intelligence reshape the playing field — and through all of it, one truth has never changed:

The best marketing technology in the world means nothing if the person using it doesn't believe in themselves, doesn't know themselves, and doesn't have a strategy that fits the way their own mind works.

I built this tool because I was tired of watching brilliant people use the wrong prescription glasses. You don't need more information. You need the right information — shaped for you.

The best tool in any entrepreneur's kit is the six inches between your ears. Everything I do as a consultant is ultimately about helping people sharpen that tool. This prompt generator is just the most direct version of that I've ever been able to offer.

It won't cost you a cent. It will cost you five minutes. And if the right strategy finally clicks for you — even once — it'll be worth more than any course you've ever bought.
